From a Qingdao Workshop to Two Plants: Twenty Years of PVC Hose Making

Pandaview Plastic was set up in December 2005. Two decades later the company runs two plants, employs more than 300 people and ships mostly to Europe and Asia — a trajectory that says more about the product mix than about the buildings.

The starting point

The company was established in Qingdao in December 2005 as a PVC hose manufacturer, and has stayed in the same business since: extruding flexible PVC hose for industry, agriculture and garden use. The headquarters is still in Chengyang District, Qingdao, with branch offices added later in Shenzhen and Dubai to sit closer to buyers.

Two plants, two materials

Production today runs across two responsible factories. One is our own PVC hose plant. The other is a joint venture in a neighbouring province, focused on rubber products. The split is deliberate: PVC extrusion and rubber compounding need different equipment, different operators and different quality routines, and trying to run both under one roof usually means one of them is done badly.

There was also an investment outside the core business: in 2011 the company put several million US dollars into a garden furniture factory. We have never taken part in its operation. It is worth mentioning because buyers who see garden furniture in our range sometimes assume we make it ourselves — we do not.

How the product range grew

The sequence follows the demand rather than a plan drawn in advance. PVC hose came first, and it remains the widest part of the catalogue: steel wire, braided, transparent, garden, air, suction and discharged constructions, in food-grade and industrial-grade versions. PU and silicone followed, covering the transparent, braided, steel wire and air variants of each material. In 2019 rubber sheet products were added — stud sheet, CR, SBR, NBR and EPDM sheet, silicone rubber sheet, EPDM foam sheet, NBR cord, PVC transparent sheet and PU solid sheet.

Garden products went the other way: instead of only extruding hose, the range now includes nozzles, connectors and hose reels, with garden tools and furniture available through partner factories. The intention is a complete garden programme rather than a hose sold alone.

What the numbers look like today

The warranty range is worth reading carefully: it varies by product because the duty varies by product. A garden hose and a steel wire food hose are not the same commitment, and a single blanket figure would be marketing rather than engineering.

What has not changed

The company motto is "new ideal, for worker", and the operating principles have stayed in the same four lines since the early years: honest and faithful operation, willingness to innovate, service with top quality, and competitive pricing. The core value is shorter and harder to fake: make every hose carefully.

Twenty years in one product category, in one city, is a modest story by the standards of the industry. It is also the reason the process documentation, the material suppliers and the test bench exist at all — they accumulate, and they are difficult to buy quickly.
